Good Friday Service – 18th April 2025
On 18th April 2025, St. John’s Church observed a solemn Good Friday service from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM, led by The Reverend P. K. Nanda. The service included scripture readings, hymns, reflections on the Seven Words from the Cross, and special prayers for healing and renewal. Reverend Nanda’s message emphasized forgiveness, compassion, and the enduring love of Christ. The congregation participated with deep reverence, marking the day with quiet reflection and spiritual unity.
Republic Day Celebration at St. John’s Church - 26th January 2025
On 26th January 2025, St. John’s Church celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day with great pride and patriotism. The celebration began in the church courtyard, where The Reverend P. K. Nanda, along with other dignitaries, ceremoniously hoisted the national flag. The congregation stood united as the national anthem was sung with heartfelt reverence, filling the atmosphere with a deep sense of pride and respect for the nation. The event was marked by prayers for the country’s prosperity, peace, and unity, followed by a brief address by Father Nanda, emphasizing the values of democracy and the importance of collective responsibility. The program concluded with a fellowship gathering, strengthening the bonds of the church community and their commitment to the nation.

Inter Pastorate Church HYMN Competition 2024
The Inter Pastorate Church Hymn Competition 2024, hosted by St. John’s Church under the auspices of the Diocese of Calcutta (CNI) and graced by The Rt. Revd. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Calcutta, CNI, was a harmonious celebration of sacred music and community fellowship. Choirs from diverse parishes showcased their musical talents, presenting heartfelt renditions of hymns that resonated with spiritual depth and devotion. The event, marked by meticulous judging and spirited performances, not only honored the tradition of sacred music but also fostered unity and camaraderie among attendees. With Bishop Canning’s inspiring address underscoring the significance of music in worship, the competition served as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of faith and harmony within the Christian community.
Happy Easter Sunday Service 2024
After the solemn Good Friday service, St. John’s Church celebrated Easter Sunday on April 7, 2024, with a special service led by Reverend P. K. Nanda at 9 AM. This vibrant celebration marked the resurrection of Jesus Christ, featuring joyful hymns, uplifting prayers, and a message of hope. Reverend P. K. Nanda’s sermon highlighted the transformative power of Christ’s resurrection for believers.
Good Friday 2024
As part of the Holy Week observances, St. John’s Church prepared for a deeply moving Good Friday service. On Good Friday, which fell on April 5, 2024, the church hosted a special 3-hour devotional service from 8 AM to 11 AM. This service was dedicated to commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and was a time of solemn reflection and devotion for Christians around the world.
PALM SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE
On March 24, 2024, St. John’s Church held a deeply reverent Palm Sunday Morning Service at 8:30 AM under the guidance of Reverend P. K. Nanda. The service, marking the commencement of Holy Week, was a poignant reflection on the Christian faith’s core values.
The Palm Sunday service served as a unifying experience, bringing together members of the congregation in a shared journey of faith, reflection, and devotion as they prepared for the solemn observance of Easter, fostering a sense of unity, reverence, and spiritual renewal among all participants.
Christmas Service in St. John's Church Kolkata
On December 25, 2023, St. John’s Church celebrated Christmas with a heartwarming service led by Reverend P. K. Nanda. The atmosphere was festive, adorned with beautiful decorations, and enhanced by special musical and dramatic performances. The congregation engaged in community outreach, spreading love through Christmas hampers and charitable initiatives. The service also acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of individuals within the congregation. We at St. John’s Church celebrated WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY on 4th June after the Sunday Church Service.
The members of the church along with Revd. P.K. Nanda, planted saplings to contribute to ‘Green Earth’ and be a part of creating a better cleaner environment for the sustenance of life and a balance in the ecosystem.
